Is there any way to set the IP address for my MSS manually? I would like to use 192.168.1.10 I have tried to have my router reserve IP addresses before. and instead assign an IP address directly. Every other piece of computing equipment I have lets me turn off the request from a DHCP server. You are correct that I am looking for a static IP address within my internal network. Do I need to go into the MSS and change the password every time I update my work PC? and a LAN workgroup when at home?Ħ) I update my work PC's password very regularly (generally every month or two). Is there anything special I should do in this situation with a laptop that is connected to a domain at work. so I generally set up those devices using static IP addresses (which is the genesis of my question 1 above). Sometimes it has delays in trying to find devices by name. However, at home, I can still generally connect to my local area network devices. and have access to all the shared folders and server management.ĥ) My work PC is connected to a domain when at work.

my employer does not want us backing up our corporate laptops except to the online backup service provided at work. will she be able to see the shared folders from either machine?Ĥ) What is the best way to exclude a particular computer from backing up to the server? In particular.

if my daughter has a login "Jenn" from both her laptop, and her netbook. that I should create two different accounts on the MSS? Can they be easily linked together?ģ) Related to #2. Does that mean if I have my login name as "Jim" on one PC.

I have a few newbie questions:ġ) How do I assign a static IP address to the MSS?Ģ) I see that each user should set their login on their PCs to the same as the MSS (or vice versa). I just received my EX485 today and I am in the process of setting it up.
